Steel Furnace CrossFit is more than just a place to sweat. It's the place between home and work where you get to see familiar faces, get stronger, and leave in a better mood than when you walked in. Whether you've never touched a barbell or you've been training for years, you'll get coaching that fits where you are today.

Owner and Head Coach
Roy walked into this gym as a member in December 2013 and never left. He started coaching in 2014, became head coach in 2015, and bought the gym in 2018. He's a multi-time masters CrossFit Games athlete who still competes, so he trains right alongside you most afternoons. His coaching comes down to one idea: the stimulus is the workout. A scaled version done at the right intensity beats grinding through Rx every time. Outside the gym, you'll find him with his fiancée, their 3 dogs and a cat.
CrossFit Level 2 Trainer
Jara began her CrossFit journey in 2018 and started coaching in 2021 before joining the Steel Furnace CrossFit team in 2023.
As a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer, she focuses on proper movement mechanics, technique, and creating a welcoming environment where athletes of all levels feel comfortable, supported, and challenged. Known for her attention to detail, sense of humor, and personalized coaching style, Jara loves helping athletes build confidence, discover their potential, and have a little fun along the way.
Outside the gym, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her pets, Iggy and Blu. And if you're part of the morning crew, you've probably already met Iggy, her loyal sidekick and one of Steel Furnace's unofficial four-legged supervisors!

Not at all. Every workout is scaled to you. The stimulus is the workout, so a scaled version done at the right intensity beats grinding through Rx every time. Lots of our members had never touched a barbell before day one.
